What is Keeping You on Track?

My morning is just beginning and I’m all ready to start the day. I need to figure out who I’m meeting with today. What projects or emails do I need to get going with right away? We’ve all been there – but what do we need to keep ourselves on target? I’ve made a list of some things that I have used to keep me on track: spreadsheets post-it notes calendar phone apps secretary whiteboard Some of these items are better than others, but whose to say what we should use in our everyday life. Spreadsheets With this type of worksheet (Excel, OpenOffice Calc), I can handle all my tasks. I can create graphs and formulas if I need too. With a quick look, I can see where my priorities are for the day. The one big issue I see is the learning curve to use a specific spreadsheet. Post-it Notes With this product, I can easily color code my priorities, ie red- urgent, yellow – medium, green – filler tasks. One problem I always seem to have is my board/wall is never large enough.   I also seem to keep changing priority on my task which means I have to keep rewriting the task using a different color. Calendar With a calendar I never have the problem of knowing when my luncheon is scheduled or when is my meeting....

Productivity – Are You a Morning Person?

I guess I always have been a morning person. When I was going to school, I got up early so I could get that last minute studying done. When I started working, I got up early to beat the morning rush hour traffic. This also helped in beating the afternoon traffic jams. Now that I have settled down in running a home business, I find that being a morning person helps me get a jump start on the day. I’m able to take that morning run to help me determine how to plan the day. I can figure out how I’m going to meet with my clients, get out my daily postings and get my normal work done. I don’t feel like I’m missing someone’s call or not responding to someone’s email. Once I’ve planned out my day, I can sit back with my morning coffee and start answering those emails from yesterday that I never had time to do. Maybe in between those emails I can even read some news of who is doing what in the world. I have the quiet time to write-up those proposals for new business. I can concentrate on fixing some error that I’ve been racking my brain on for the last few days. Who knows I even maybe able to send out an invoice or two. And now as the morning minutes...
