Nordonia Hills — When Julie D’Aloiso was laid off in spring 2009, it did not take her long to bounce back.

“It took me like an hour to adjust and then I was OK,” she said.

Laura Sparano, Chamber of Commerce chief executive officer, said this attitude is a big reason why D’Aloiso is this year’s winner of the Small Business of the Year award.

“Instead of letting it get to her, she went out and started a business,” said Sparano.
